Steps for Improvement......

A Little Boy went to a telephone booth which was at the cash counter of a store
and dialed a number…

(The store-owner observed and listened to the conversation)
Boy : Lady, Can you give me the job of cutting your lawn?
Woman : (at the other end of the phone line)I already have someone
to cut my lawn.
Boy : Lady, I will cut your lawn for half the price than the
person who cuts your lawn now.

Woman : I'm very satisfied with the person who is presently cutting
my lawn.

Boy :( with more perseverance)"Lady, I'll even sweep the
floor and the stairs of your house for free.

Woman : No, thank you.
(With a smile on his face, the little boy replaced the receiver. The
store-owner, who was listening to all this, walked over to the boy.)

Store Owner : Son... I like your attitude; I like that positive spirit
and would like to offer you a job.
Boy : No thanks,
Store Owner : But you were really pleading for one.
Boy : No Sir, I was just checking my performance at the job I already
have… I am the one who is working for that lady I was talking to!

 After a while you learn
After a while you learn
the subtle difference between holding a hand and chining a soul
and you learn
that love doesn't mean leaning
and company doesn't always mean security.
And you begin to learn
that kisses aren't contracts and presents aren't promises
and you begin to accept your defeat with your head up and your eyes ahead
and you learn
to build all your roads on today because tomorrows ground is
too uncertain for plans
and futures have a way of falling down in mid-flight.
After a while you learn
that even sunshine burns if you get too much
so you plant your own garden and decorate your own soul
instead of waiting for someone to bring you flowers.
And you learn that yo really can endure
you really are strong
you really do have worth
and you learn
and you learn
and you learn
with every goodbye you learn

Love me - Love you  story

I heard this story from Gopinath Muthukad

There was a small bird which was feeling very lonely since it's  father and mother were already dead and it had neither siblings nor friends. One day it approached an elderly crow and asked his advice on making friends.
The crow advised the young bird to sit it its beautifully laid nest and  repeatedly chant love me .... love me !
The small bird wasted no time. But even after a few months of chanting he could get no friends.
He met the crow again and told his sorry plight.
Crow took him to the elephant who he thought had better ideas.
The elephant patiently heard the story and meditated.
Then advised the young bird to change it's chant in a very small way.
It just wanted the bird to repeat love YOU  instead of love ME.
The small bird returned to it's nest and started chanting the new words.
To it's surprise it got a lot of friends the very first day itself.

Osho

“A prayer that does not come out of a joyous heart is already dead.
It cannot reach God, it cannot leave the earth, it has no wings.”

Anna Hazare ..... Fast unto Victory

Anna Hazare has won a remarkable victory for the people of India. Of late politics in India has become murkey and both ruling party and opposition have become insensitive to real issues concerning the people. While in power some of them swindle money in millions and billions. A few of them are adept with any formation so that they can stick to power, term after term. In the process they shift sides and join hands with those whom they were opposing tooth and nail till the last day. Some ministers have made some portfolios their fiefdom. The process of election in our country is truly representative in its character and is pride of our nation. Our elections are looked upon as a marvel by commentators across the globe. But with no limit to the number of terms an individual can contest an election  many of the constituencies are reserved in the name  of certain individuals. With people of impeccable character slowly withdrawing from th electoral process or getting marginalized by over smart crooks in political parties many times we end up without any choice. Our selection is limited to lesser evil. In some parts of the country we have to settle for dictated voting, this in spite of all the precautions taken by our Election commission.

Ultimately we are having vast majority of our representatives of  mediocre standard.

The Parliament is held to ransom on one issue or the other, most of them insignificant. Even when there is a debate, none including the Leader of the house or opposition leader gets patient hearing. High decibel, collective obstructionism is the key word. Crores are wasted when parliament fails to transact business. Poor man who find it hard to meet his daily need paying tax on products and services that ultimately get wasted and looted.

Of late the laws we make are not in any sense reflecting the aspiration of people of the country. They are not good enough for a forward looking country.

Scam after scam, inefficiency and inadequacy and direction less Government and opposition !

No country can get on with this. The freedom we won, after sacrifices from illustrious sons of Mother India is now under siege from a section of our own men who are nothing but wolves in sheep's skin.

We are indeed tired of the way things are going on . The pure heart of mother India is still alive. It was simply waiting for some dependable and guiding spirit to rally around. It is this pivot that Anna Hazare provided.

See the spontaneous response............... Count the days ......... 1,2,3,4 and rulers of world's largest democracy are kneeling. See how they softened their stand and are now saying all these they are doing for laymen.

We need more such fights to build an India that our freedom fighters dreamed about..... an India were truth and equality are held in high esteem.

Your money but .....

Germany is a highly industrialised country. It produces top brands like Benz, BMW, Siemens etc. The nuclear reactor pump is made in a small town in this country. In such a country, many will think its people lead a luxurious life. At least that was my impression before my study trip.

When I arrived at Hamburg, my colleagues who work in Hamburg arranged a welcome party for me in a restaurant. As we walked into the restaurant, we noticed that a lot of tables were empty. There was a table where a young couple was having their meal. There were only two dishes and two cans of beer on the table. I wondered if
such simple meal could be romantic, and whether the girl will leave this stingy guy.

There were a few old ladies on another table. When a dish is served, the waiter would distribute the food for them, and they would finish every bit of the food on their plates.
We did not pay much attention to them, as we were looking forward to the dishes we ordered. As we were hungry, our local colleague ordered more food for us.

As the restaurant was quiet, the food came quite fast. Since there were other activities arranged for us, we did not spend much time dining. When we left, there was still about one third of unconsumed food on the table.

When we were leaving the restaurant, we heard someone calling us. We noticed the old ladies in the restaurant were talking about us to the restaurant owner. When they spoke to us in English, we understood that they were unhappy about us wasting so much food. We immediately felt that they were really being too busybody.

"We paid for our food, it is none of your business how much food we left behind," my colleague Gui told the old ladies.

The old ladies were furious. One of them immediately took her hand phone out and made a call to someone.
After a while, a man in uniform claimed to be an officer from the Social Security organisation arrived. Upon knowing what the dispute was, he issued us a 50 Mark fine.

We all kept quiet. The local colleague took out a 50 Mark note and repeatedly apologized to the officer.

The officer told us in a stern voice, "ORDER WHAT YOU CAN CONSUME, MONEY IS YOURS BUT RESOURCES BELONG TO THE SOCIETY. THERE ARE MANY OTHERS IN THE WORLD WHO ARE FACING SHORTAGE OF RESOURCES. YOU HAVE NO REASON TO WASTE RESOURCES.´”

Our face turned red. We all agreed with him in our hearts. The mindset of people of this rich country put all of us to shame. WE REALLY NEED TO REFLECT ON THIS. We are from country which is not very rich in resources.

To save face, we order large quantity and also waste food when we give others a treat.

THIS LESSON TAUGHT US A LESSON TO THINK SERIOUSLY ABOUT CHANGING OUR BAD HABITS.

My colleague copied the fine ticket and gave a copy to each of us as a souvenir. All of us kept it and pasted on our wall to remind us that we shall never be wasteful.

A similar system exists in Singapore 'All you can eat buffet restaurant'. Here one can eat for $12.90 and if you waste food the left our food is weighed and every 100 grams is charged at $ 4.50.

This is good, knowing people like to pile up!!!!
